I’m Sick.
Blech. I’ve been sick for about two weeks now, and taken two sub days. Both days I’ve thought “Gee, I’ll take one day and rest and be just fine.” Didn’t work the first time, we’ll see about this one. Lots of sleeping, Kleenex, TV, reading, chap stick (with my nose congested, I am now a mouth-breather. Attractive.), liquids, and I might even work my way up to knitting. Sure hope the kids have a better day than I do (educationally speaking, that is).
I wouldn’t be so worried about getting better and would just power through if we weren’t going to camp on Monday. Indeed, me, fifth-graders, and the great outdoors for three days! Please pray.
I’m actually kind of excited, since it will be a nice break from the classroom routine, where I have stooped to bribing/encouraging the children to behave with fake money. I am conflicted about it–I disagree ideologically with paying children to do what is expected of them, but that’s what happens when you’re a grown up, and we needed more sanity in the classroom. End justifies the means, eh?
Jamie’s well. He had two baseball games last Saturday and had a blast. I’ll let him tell you more later.
And finally, how not to sell your house! We went to a townhouse (the owners were on vacation) and, as we were looking at the downstairs bedroom, we hear the most pathetic meow. We looked down to see the most pathetic, mangy cat I’d ever seen. It was about two inches thick and looked like it was recovering from a poodle cut. Then we noticed that front door was still open. Assuming it was a stray, our realtor chucked the cat out the door. We then proceeded up the stairs to find cat food, litter, and all kinds of cat-related paraphernalia and no cat. Yes, we indeed almost lost the owners’ cat! Luckily the realtor went back downstairs and was able to rescue the cat from the tiny backyard. Well, I use the term “luckily” loosely, because said cat got sick all over the rug. It’s hard to look past cat-sick to decide whether or not you want to buy a house. We’re not going to buy that one.
Whew, that was a lot of typing–I think it might be time for my mid-morning nap.
