Yay me!
My room is set up!!! That means I get to spend the next two days actually planning what the kids will do in the fun room. Suggestions?
(Actually, I’ll probably do almost exactly what I’ve done for the past two years, but half in Spanish. Wow, I’ve been a teacher for two years!) It also means I shouldn’t have to go to that crazy, over-crowded, full of harried teachers who should have shopped earlier (myself included), doesn’t-even-have-what-I-need teacher store (ha! Accidentally typed “sore” the first time!) again for a long long time. In related news, turns out it’s pretty tough to find a cursive alphabet poster in Spanish.
Today I left the house at about 8 and got back at 7. I have the teacher store and the fact that I have to use 520 to get home from said store. For those who aren’t from here, 520 is of the devil. It’s one of the two bridges across Lake Washington, and it only has two lanes in each direction. This is NOT ENOUGH, people! I think I’ll go knit to relieve the stress of thinking about it.

If you would like to productively procrastinate by writing a press release about a public opinion poll, drafting a column for the Bankers Association magazine, or researching science education trends, just let me know…

aren’t you teaching a different grade this year?

Yes, I’m teaching 5th instead of 6th, but they’re similar enough (and I stole most of what I do from the 5th grade teacher with whom I student taught) that I just do the same stuff, more or less.
P.S. Who are you, Anonymous?

I did the same thing, Becky! My classroom is as pretty as it can be on a limited budget, but my lessons for the first week are… shakey. I need to fill them in and make lots of copies today.
I can’t find a cursive alphabet in my catalogue, sorry! (you know teachersdiscover.com, right? If you click on elementary they sing you the “Buenos dias, amigitos comos estas? muy bien!” to the tune of “If you’re happy and you know it”)
