What I’ve been up to
(Note for the English majors out there… how in the world do you end that sentence without a preposition? After all, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put!)
Today was my last day of vacation. Sigh. It kind of frittered away, actually. I ran some errands (for all the teachers out there, a candle warmer and a few jar candles from the dollar store will do wonders for your classroom environment!), and read Bridget Jones’ Diary at Starbucks. I was pleased to see that the pumpkin spice lattes are back. It went wonderfully with today’s drizzle. It was almost an Edmonds kind of day. Almost.
Then I came up and tidied up the flat a bit (it sounds more sophisticated to call it a flat. Perhaps I shall make it more a part of my vernacular), then made calzones for dinner. I definitely recommend taking off all jewelry before attempting to deal with the dough. After turning the sticky, floury mess into, well, a less sticky, floury mess, dinner was served. Mighty tasty, too.
Then Jamie and I made a major tactical error: we went to the pet store. We’ve talked about getting a cat for a long time, and I am very excited at the possibility of having a furry pet at home (a fish just didn’t cut it). At the store we saw a little kitten (well, probably 1-2 year old) that looked just like Moka! (Moka is my parents’ cat who has a ton of personality and is lots of fun.) I wanted to take her home. Tonight. Then I looked on her cage and it said that she had to go with her other little kitty friend. TWO adorable cats! Glinda and Alfie… I want to bring them home. Our apartment has a one cat limit, however. I’m wondering if they would find out… Does Jamie also get a one cat limit?
Back to work tomorrow…and that’s about all I have to say about that (except that my room is almost all set up already including labeled bins in the library, matching stickers on the books, every paper filled in its appropriate file, computers hooked up [almost entirely], dorky teacher posters on the walls, apple fabric covering nasty chalkboards… if cuteness equals preparation, I’m good to go!
Seriously… what is wrong with me?).
