But I don’t want to write progress reports!

So I’ll post instead!

The past few days have been interesting, to say the least. Yesterday I forgot my big teacher bag with the lists of kids who needed to be in certain small groups (read: I’d spent the evening looking at several assignments to see exactly what skills each kids needed, then left it all at home). So I started the day feeling off. Then my kiddos were really squirrelly in the morning, and I was dreading the fun, get up and move math lesson I had planned, because I was sure it would end in chaos. However, after spending the morning driving their teacher crazy, they were little angels in the afternoon. Bliss. :) They learned three new concepts and I got caught up on my lessons!

Then I went home. Then, very shortly after (read: 7:45) I went to bed because I had a really nasty headache. Poor Jamie had to deal with cranky, headachy me. He did a good job–brought me my cold pack dealie and cuddled with me. After 10 hours of sleep I was ready for today!

I got to work early so that I could plan today (since I slept through my planning last night). It all went rather well, with a slight copy machine complication in the middle. My last minute plans went swimmingly, especially in the afternoon. They were super excited to organize their desks (really!) and we played “Mrs. B.’s Best Math Game There Ever Was” (aka MBBMGTEW). It consisted of doing math problems in a group on little white boards for points. Even though they didn’t know what “Uber” meant, they were uberexcited for the “Uberbonus” round. So much fun to make stuff up! They even loved the lame prizes. It was glorious to see them say “Stem and leaf diagram! Quick! Let’s make a stem and leaf diagram!”

And now I am home again. I want to do anything but write progress reports. They are not going to be pretty. A lot of them have decided not to do their work. I suppose this is just a good opportunity to teach them about logical consequences. Sigh. It’s still no fun.
