Getting a job is a full time job!
Ug. That is all I have to say about trying to get a job. I really don’t like it. First, I’m not a big fan of shameless self promotion. I’m not that good at it, either, but I don’t want to lose out on a job because of lack of hubris. No good. Shouldn’t they just look at my ability to use words like “hubris” in casual conversation and say “Hey, she’s both smart and witty. Let’s hire her”? I haven’t found a single application which covers my ability to use big words, however. Don’t get me started on references, since it turns into a full time job for them, too.
On a happier note, the Battle of the Books was on Saturday. I got to be at school at 6:30 am to ride a bus to the Southside for the competition. The kids had a good time, and I relished the nerdiness of getting really in to answering questions about 20 books the kids read. Let’s just say I would have dominated such a competition as much as a scrawny little white girl could.
After the battle, Jamie and I had a great date! The weather was gorgeous, so we went out to dinner and ate Thai food on the roof. Then we went to the bookstore and each bought a book to read. I bought this brain candy. We then returned home to read books and lounge around. So delightful!
And work is work right now. Hopefully it will make it to fun soon.
