Perfect Match

Turns out Jamie and I are a perfect match in more ways than one.  We seem to have exactly the same credit score.  :)
Now we just have to find a house so we can take that score out for a spin.  Not as easy as it sounds, folks.

Productive Rest

I have been all about finishing projects this break.  I finished a Christmas present for Kiersten (pathetic that it took this long, really), I’m almost done with a sock, have tackled the giant pile of hand-wash only laundry, almost finished the membership process at church (just have the interview left), and now I’m going to tackle a giant stack of papers I’ve been meaning to grade.

Do I know how to vacation or what?

Midwinter Break

This week is Midwinter Break, which means a week off for Presidents’ Day and four more days for good behavior.   I have papers to grade and a few projects to do, but other than that, I’m just bumming around.   I’m pretty excited about that.  Today’s to do list includes grocery shopping and baking a cake for small group tonight.  Whee.

Bet you wish you were a teacher right about now, eh?

Daylight

There was a little bit of daylight left just now for my evening commute – the first time that’s been the case this year.  Houses had colors.  I could see the view from Phinney Ridge.  I suppose that it’s slowly getting lighter, but today was also the first time in a few weeks that I got out the door at a normal time.

I am not a blogger, and I think the same goes for most people – even most people who start blogs.  I have been more active on Facebook lately, though.  It has grown to a critical mass, it seems, a tipping point in increasing value.  High school friends, old church relationships – the network effect is great.  So while it’s not perfect (I won’t bore you with my plans to write my own even-better personal communication tool), it’s pretty useful for communicating in a distributed-but-focused way.

Where did January go?

It’s already February.  2.5 months or so until the WASL, and 5 months until the end of the year (though that keeps getting pushed back due to snow days and union regulations).  I’m actually looking forward to next year.  After 4 years, I feel like might be hitting somewhat of a stride.  I was gone in the morning on Thursday for some professional development, and when I got back, two kids hugged me!  They like me, they really like me!  (It may have had something to do with them losing about 5 minutes of recess with the substitute, but still…)

Then there are days when I want to work at a yarn store or Starbucks, but that’s bound to happen to anyone, right?

We’ve spent the majority of our Sundays in January house hunting.  Nothing yet, but we’ll keep you posted.

I’m super excited for our church’s women’s retreat, but I have to wait until March to go.  Sigh.

That is all.
